“Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned.” ~ Peter Marshall

Many of us have a habit of putting things off. Here are some thoughts on, do it now.

How to Create an Action Plan For Now-Or-Never Confidence By Dee Brady

Do you have a wish list of things you would like to do, places you would like to visit and even the type of person you’d like to be? Have you thought of actually writing these down? Seeing your wishes on paper can be very motivating but also daunting. Your list of wishes could include doing a parachute jump, holidaying in the Bahamas, being confident and self assured. Once you start you might not be able to stop. It can be a very cathartic process. But in the back of your mind do you tell yourself these are just wishes?

Well most people don’t just get all their dreams handed to them on a plate. They get them by taking steps towards them every day. They take actions to move them towards their dreams and goals. People who get what they want often take a long term view of life. They know that they must take every achievement no matter how small or how grand and learn from it. They will build upon these achievements and move closer to their goals – undaunted.

So, how do you do it? How do you turn your wishes into reality? You make a start and look at your wishes. You have to transform your wishes into goals. Don’t panic if you’ve set yourself giant daunting goals. Chunk them down into manageable chunks. If one of your goals is to overcome shyness and be more self assured. Give yourself small goals every day: smile at someone you like; say hello to a stranger; join an evening class.

Goals are wishes with timetables for completion. Look at all your wishes and separate them into short term, medium term and long term goals. When you’ve done that allocate specific dates to each goal. This will give you a plan for your life. Take action daily towards your goals and make regular appointments with yourself – just like a business appointment – and review your progress. Remember build on every achievement. But most importantly start now and do something every day to get closer to your dreams.

“Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait. The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count.” – Dr. Robert Anthony Educator

Imagine that you are in your eighties looking back on your life and wishing you had taken action on your dreams. Imagine what it would feel like, shut your eyes and really feel it. What if years and years ago you had written down your wishes – you wanted to be confident, to meet people, you wanted to travel and see The Pyramids, Ayres Rock, the Great Wall of China and the Grand Canyon. How would you feel? Would you regret that you could have experienced more, had more friends and lived a fuller more enriched life? Would you have wished that you had made a plan with steps that would have led to you reaching your goal? If you are really feeling this, you will feel devastated that your life has passed you by. Don’t get to the end of your life and wish you’d taken action. You can make a change NOW. You can start to change your life NOW. Write your wishes down, chunk them down into manageable goals, set yourself deadlines, work towards them every day.

Be one of the people that DOES things, don’t put them off, become an achiever, little by little, little steps or big steps so long as you are moving you are going along the right road. Don’t just dream it. Be who you want to be. Live the life you want.

TODAY’S TIP: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Tomorrow never comes.

Are you ready to do it now?

“He who has begun is half done.” ~ Horace

Today I present an informative article on goal setting and plan of actions. It is a little longer than usual but well worth the read.

Goal-Setting – How to Make an Action Plan By Dehlia Buckley

So you decided to start something new, be it losing weight, quitting smoking, or going back to college. Each of these tasks is daunting at first glance, but the right goal setting techniques will help you to accomplish any tasks almost easily. Anyone can dream, but it becomes a goal when written down.

Sit Down and Think

All you need to start is something to write on (a piece of paper or computer) and something to write with (a pen, or your keyboard). Sit in a comfortable spot with minimal distractions, and allow your mind to truly think about your goal.

Some questions to ask about your goal:

What do you need to do to realize this dream?

Are there set steps or processes? Or do you have to figure it out yourself? How will you find this information out? Eg: search online or call an information phone number.

What do you need before you can start this goal? Eg: money, more time, fresh veggies, smoking cessation products, college pamphlets and applications.

How did other people get to this goal? Can you follow in their footsteps?

Is there anyone who can be a mentor during this journey? What advice do they have for you?

Write down any ideas, questions, and thoughts you have during this brain-storming session. The first step is seeing what kinds of information you need to continue. If you are at a computer you can start researching these questions. Find out how to start, what you’ll need, and what to do next.

The most helpful question to ask is, where do you see yourself in 3 months? 6 months? One year? Imagining yourself at your goal is proven to help your brain to begin processing actually doing that goal, and it provides instant gratification. Imagining your goals being met in the future gives your brain yummy mental candy to chew on and triggers the dopamine receptors responsible for the pleasure center of the brain. This question also forces you to gauge your current status. How are you doing right now? Are you actively pursuing your goals? If not, you can see what social, mental, and environmental factors contribute to hindering your progress and begin to make changes to get the ball rolling.

Gather Information and Begin to Plan

After you finish writing down what you’ll need to know, it’s time to head to the library or your laptop. Search engines will be crucial for efficiently researching your goal. A simple trick is to write “How to [apply for college, lose weight, etc.]…” in quotation marks in the search box and see what kinds of information turns up. If you have a specific product in mind, say for losing weight or for quitting smoking, find the website or the phone number and ask for information or prices.

Magazines available at the library for free can offer quick, reader-friendly information and almost every issue in any niche has articles especially for beginners just starting out and has fresh, new advice that you won’t find in older books. However, for the most information in one place, books on your general area will be invaluable.

If you have $10-20 to spend you can find a great book for beginners on your topic at a bookstore or Amazon; make sure you thoroughly read the reviews or skim through the book to make sure it will be a smart buy, but a recent book published within the last few years is your best bet. Beginner books series specializes on introducing new topics for beginners and have step by step plans and advice. If you are totally lost on how to start realizing your goal, find a book specially targeted for beginners.

If you need a support group, search for forums where people interested in similar goals and hobbies join to talk in one place. These forums, such as the Weight Watchers forums, are a great way to find people who are farther along in their journey and can offer guidance, advice, and help for people just like you starting out. There are also hotlines you can call for anonymous counseling on quitting smoking or finding professional help for substance and alcohol abuse.

When researching, keep a pad of paper near your workspace so you can take notes. This information will be used to help you flesh out your plan later. Depending on the goal, researching can take 1-2 hours so set aside a few blocks of time during the week if you have a tight deadline to search online or visit the library. If you have decided to purchase a book, you can highlight key points and write down the steps they outline.

Break Up your List into Manageable Daily, Weekly and Monthly Tasks

The hard part is finally over. It can be overwhelming to dive into a new topic headfirst, but now you are armed with vital information that will prove invaluable for you later on as you hit roadblocks or self doubt. Take your research notes and skim over the information that you found. Is there a clear-cut plan emerging? Begin to write down everything that you have to do for you goal. If a task is too large, break it up into monthly, weekly, or daily tasks. For example, to lose weight one of the things you need to do is eat better. This topic is too large, so it can be broken down into:

· Drink 64 ounces of water daily
· Cook own dinner 4-5 times per week
· Try a new fruit or vegetable a few times per month

Keep doing this for every task until you begin to see every small thing you need to do for your goal. Now you have a plan! If you haven’t already, organize these into daily tasks, weekly tasks, and monthly tasks. Take a look at your list, and start the first daily task immediately. Is your first task to quit smoking to throw out your remaining cigarettes? Head over to that garbage can. Congratulations, you just set an action plan with your goals. Make sure you read over your task list everyday and to visualize your goals so that you always know where you’re headed. If you’re not moving forward, where are you going?

“Success will never be a big step in the future, success is a small step taken just now.” ~ Jonatan Martensson

It has been said that action is the missing piece of the Law of Attraction. Here are some thoughts about an action plan for the Law.

Law of Attraction Action Plan – Eight Steps For Abundance By Kiko Erel

Finding the right law of attraction action plan that suites you best, is a very important step in the process of creating your abundant and free flowing life.

Many people watch movies explaining what the law of attraction is but that does not explain how to use the processes that help you really make use of this strong power.

Here is an easy to use four week law of attraction action plan you can use to help you get closer to the power of your thoughts.

Law of attraction action plan:

For best results I advise practicing the processes written, every day.

Week one:

Step one: Make a list of all the things that are bothering you in your life. To understand what you really want, you must know where you are right now.

Step two: Once you finish your list, write down besides every negative subject, its opposite positive aspect. This will give you a good list to come back to for a reminder of what you actually want in life.

Week two:

- Choose one subject that you most want to work on these coming three weeks

Step three: Clear out half an hour every day for practice purposes. Sit is a quite room where you will not be disturbed

Step four: Sit for 10 minutes and just listen to music or meditate, whatever makes you feel more relaxed.

Step five: Start visualizing how it feels to have already achieved what you wrote down. Focus especially on how it feels to already have it. Emotional connection enhance attraction immensely.

Repeat this process every day for at least three weeks.

Week three:

Continue using the processes written in previous weeks.

Step six: Every night as you enter your bed, lie down for about ten minutes and think intentionally about things that make you feel good. Then, focus on how good you are going to sleep and imagine yourself waking up vibrant and energetic in the morning.

Step seven: Every morning when you wake up, before you leave your bed, lie down for ten minutes and look for things that make you feel good.

At first when you do this, it might feel a bit weird, But you will start observing change on mornings when you wake up more positive after using this process.

Week four:

Continue using the processes previously written.

Step Eight: Start writing the positive occurrences that are happening to you. Learn to appreciate your life and the good things.

“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.” ~ Les Brown

Many times one is defeated by lack of action. They have a dream and know how to go about making that dream a reality but, usually because of fear, they put no energy into the dream.

It is said that the difference between a dream and a fantasy is a plan. The plan is the steps to making the dream come true. Sometimes called a plan of action.

Without a plan there is no success. Therefore one of the first things you need to do in fulfilling your dream is to develop a step by step plan on how you are going to make your dream a reality.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

1. Am I passionate about my dream? Without passion it is almost impossible to bring the dream to reality. If the answer is yes, go to number 2. If the answer is no, put it out of you mind because it will be a waste of time.

2. What do I need to make my dream come true? You may need more knowledge, more money, or help from another. What ever you need you can get, which brings us to the 3rd question.

3. How can I get what I need? You may need to go back to school, raise capital or find someone with the expertise you need. Whatever it is determine how and where you will get it.

4. How will I proceed after I have gotten what I need? You must start from where you are, so be honest with yourself as to where you are. This is the point where you start to develop you plan of action.

Your plan of action is a step by step plan that will lead you to success. It should be detailed enough that hopefully nothing is overlooked. I say hopefully because it is possible that you overlook something. It is for this reason that the plan should be reviewed often to be sure you are on track.

You also want to work your plan with an open mind. Remembering that the object of the plan is to make you dream come true, not prove anything. Remember to be open enough that you can change your plan when it is of benefit. When it stops working or is not going in the direction you want, review it and if you need to change it.

Remember that you are working with the circumstance of your reality. These circumstance may change or it may be that there was something you did not think about which would cause your plan to go awry.

Keep your end goal in mind and make adjustments as needed to reach that goal. Also be sure that you work your plan as long as it is working. Keep changes to a minimum and change it only when necessary.

TODAY’S TIP: Give thought to what you want out of life and set your intention to get what you want.

Do you have a plan?

“Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” ~ John Wooden

Today I offer more thoughts on working with your subconscious mind.

Subconscious Mind Power – How to Release the Amazing Hidden Power of Your Subconscious Mind By Tan Sock Nye

There is an amazing hidden power in your subconscious mind. There is no secret but only truth. This amazing hidden mind power is real and not something made up. It is backed by scientific research and application. You need not acquire this power because you are born with it but you need to know how to release it and use it.

Sadly, many are unaware of this amazing hidden power of the mind. Your subconscious mind is hidden with marvellous potentials that awaiting you to express, develop and magnify. These potentials are your source of wisdom, power and creativity. Before you can release this amazing mind power, you need to recognize these potentials and accept them as true in your conscious mind.

The terms “to unleash”, “to unlock”, “to tap into” or “to release” the amazing hidden power of your subconscious refer to the same thing, i.e. to use the subconscious mind the right way so that you can get what you want. Reprogramming subconscious mind, hypnosis and meditation work on the same basis.

In order to release the amazing power of your subconscious mind, you need to know how our mind works, learn how to use it and apply the know-how. Once you learn the truth of how our mind works, you will realize that it is your subconscious mind that will bring forth your heart desires. When you start to use your subconscious according to the law it works on, your amazing hidden mind power is released.

Our mind works on the law of belief. A belief is the thought of your mind and nothing else. “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve” (Napolean Hill). The key is your thought – constructive or destructive. Powerful constructive thoughts relate to Harmony, Peace, Joy, Happiness, Wealth, Success, Love and Health. The most destructive thought is ‘I Can’t’. When your mind starts to think correctly with constructive thought, the amazing hidden power of your subconscious is released and it will start to work all its way out to manifest your constructive thoughts.

When you draw into the amazing hidden power of your subconscious mind, you will come into actual possession of the power, wisdom and creativity required to bring forth into your life all the good things you want. The moment you draw into this amazing power of your mind, you start to see changes in your life. It unblocks you perception. You begin to see things in a constructive way and find your surroundings and conditions favourable. You are opened to receive new thoughts and ideas that bring along new inventions and new discoveries. You will have the courage and confidence to do things once you fear of doing.

Your subconscious mind power is the greatest power of your mind. Once you know how to draw into this amazing hidden power of your subconscious, you can apply it in all areas of your life. With this amazing mind power, whatever you want, you can draw forth.

Tan Sock Nye strongly believes that it is the right of the humankind to live successfully, happily and abundantly.

“There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.” ~ Dalai Lama

I came across this article on brain exercise for children. Instead of my writing today’s post as usual I thought it would be important to present this information to you. It is never too early to start your child on a path to health and wellness of mind, body, and soul.

6 Brain Exercises For Children By Sarah J Holt

As children are growing up they are developing thinking, as well as behavioral, patterns. Using these 6 brain exercises for children is one way to help them develop these skills for better functioning and mental abilities for life.

Word Searches/Crosswords

They make many books for kids that contain word searches and crosswords. These are great activities for children to exercise their brains by using the focus and thinking that they require. Crossword puzzles are also a great family activity, where one person can read off the clue and tell how many letters are involved and everyone else can guess.

Memory Exercises

Working with memory exercises can be one of the easiest brain exercises for children, since it can be done in the car while driving or almost anywhere else. Starting when they are young we naturally do these exercises by teaching them how to spell their names, and what their phone numbers and addresses are. We can expand on this by having them work on remembering poems, songs, and the names from family trees.

Memorizing helps children use their brain to focus and retain the information. It also is a very useful skill since a lot of education is based on memorizing, such as learning the number facts for math or learning a list of spelling words.

Obstacle Courses For The Brain

We all have heard of obstacle courses that require physical exercises, but we can also set up ones that include brain exercises for children. An obstacle course for the brain can combine both physical and brain exercises, or focus exclusively on the latter. You can make stations along a physical obstacle course where they can only proceed to the next station after they complete a mental task, such as a short crossword puzzle or word problem. You can also set is up where they have stations throughout the house where they have to complete a series of mental tasks all lined up along the floor or a table.

Write Or Draw Left-Handed (Or Right-Handed)

A great way to exercise the brain is to use the non-dominant hand for writing or drawing. This can be fun to see who can tell what was written or drawn afterwards. Another option is to draw a picture where one-half is done with the dominant hand and then afterwards it is copied onto the other half by the non-dominant hand. These are brain exercises for children that encourage both sides of their brain to work together.

While brain exercises for children can be simple and fun the payoffs can be huge. By using these brain exercises the children are learning to exercise an important part of the body.

“The brain is a wonderful organ; it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.” ~ Robert Frost

They say that as you age the first thing to go is memory. Here is information on improving and maintaining your memory.

Brain Exercises Improve Memory By Taylor Bliss

Anything worth keeping should be maintained properly, right? Most especially when that one thing deals with your brain that keeps all of your life’s work. Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the brain and memory function should not be lost in our everyday struggle to cope up with life, after all, as Aeschylus put it, memory is the mother of all wisdom!

So how do you it?

Through brain exercise of course!

Brain exercise improves memory in various ways. If your brain is like a network of roads, doing a brain exercise is where you engineer new highways and bridges to access a wider, more functional freeway, and it can be anything and everything as long as it makes you think and make your brain work for its food.

One easy way to improve memory this way is to disrupt routine. Routines are called routines because it is second-skin to you, and more often than not, your brain has done it so well you are like on autopilot while performing them, eliminating the need to think.

Start your brain exercise by learning and incorporating new activities into your routines. It can be the simplest of tasks, like using your non dominant hand to brush your teeth and open doors. It may feel weird at first but that is because you are using parts of your brain that you do not normally practice. This will stimulate your brain enough to focus and work on a new challenge.

Another equally effective thing to do is to play. Brain games and brain exercise go together. Puzzles, crosswords, Sudoku, Rubric cube and computer games work very well to help you think and pay attention – all necessary in building good memory. Choose one mode that appeals to you so you actually have a recreational activity added to your memory training!

Taking care of the body you are in, to ensure optimal performance, also works wonders. This is the basic brain exercise. – very simple but yields the foundation for all the added training you may choose to do to improve your memory.

There are systematic brain exercises used by people who own the world’s best memories that work like magic. Improve your memory fast in the easiest way you can imagine.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Taylor_Bliss

TODAY’S TIP: Start working on maintaining your memory now, don’t wait until it starts to fade.

Do you remember?

“Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.” ~ Albert Einstein

We know that the right and left hemispheres of the brain control different functions in our lives. Here is information on how to exercise each.

Are There Left and Right Brain Exercises? How Each Part of The Brain Needs a Different Workout By J Wall

For the most part people are familiar with left and right brain thinking, but did you know you can stimulate the growth of each through left and right brain exercises? Understanding the basics of how each hemisphere works is key to giving each a workout.

Some people may question what the point of such exercise would be, but there is good reasons behind it. Since the right brain in general is responsible for visual processing, “big picture” thinking, intuitive processing and processes ideas simultaneously doing right brain exercises would help enhance those functions. Conversely, since the left brain in general is the hemisphere that is analytical, processes step by step, verbally oriented, etc. Left brain exercises would help boost those processes.

So what exactly would such exercise entail? For the right half of the brain, it would involve performing tasks that stimulate visual usage, intuitive thinking, etc. Right brain exercises might be things like painting or drawing that use the right brain functions of visual processing as well as big picture or wholistic processing that goes on in the right hemisphere.

Right brain exercises would also include games that involve strategy or working through various tasks simultaneously. These games require that you take a look at things as a whole and at times think outside of logical deductions to achieve the goal. This would also help build up function in the right hemisphere.

For the left side, you would need left brain exercises that require word usage, logical reasoning or step by step processing. Brain teasers or word puzzles would be a couple of good examples that utilize the left hemisphere and strengthen its function.

Spelling and math activities are also good left brain exercises. These processes are done predominantly in the left hemisphere so the more you use them the more neural connections are built in that part of the brain increasing function. Basically any task or test that involves deductive reasoning, working through a problem in a sequential order or working with distinct facts and figures will enhance this part of the brain and how it works.

Whatever your preference, researchers have noted that the overall brain works more efficiently if we not only work the side that is dominant for us, but spend some time working the less dominant parts. In other words right brain exercises will be beneficial to left brained individuals and left brain exercises will help right brainers. Building up both sides actually serves to facilitate better interactions between both halves which gives your brain a more well rounded ability.

As with physical exercise, the brain is best helped if the exercise is regular and not sporadic. The brain, like muscle works on the use it or lose it principle. The more we are inactive with certain parts of our brains the harder it is for us to perform those functions. The more we work them the easier it is for us to use those functions. So whether you need a good dose of right brain exercises or left brain, the point is to get that brain in shape.

“I consider that a man’s brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose.” ~ Arthur Conan Doyle

The reference to mind games in this instance is not a reference to the dirty tricks some people play on others or the games we play with ourselves that have a negative impact on our lives.

We are starting to hear how important it is to keep the mind working. The brain is a muscle and like the other muscles of the body, as the saying goes, you either use it or lose it.

We hear health professionals now telling seniors to put energy into keeping their minds fit. This is good advice for all. The younger one is when they become aware of the need to exercise their brain the better.

The mind or brain need new challenges. It is like exercising the body. If you do one thing continuously you improve as time goes by. However no matter how long you practice that thing if you try to do something else you find that you do not do so good.

As an example, if you are a runner and want to become a swimmer, you find that it is like starting all over again. This is because you are using different muscles in swimming than you did in running.

The same is true of the brain, if you do the same mental things everyday, you become good at that task. But, you may not be so good at a different task that requires a different part of the brain.

To keep your brain in top condition it needs to be introduced to new things regularly. Things like learning a new language, working cross-word puzzles and other kinds of puzzles that make you think.

There are websites devoted to games that keep your brain active. The only thing in keeping your brain in good working order well all your life is the intent to do so and the perseverance to make it a habit.

Work with your mind and brain daily. Sitting in front of the TV does not simulate the mind. Just as you exercise you body, exercise your mind.

As you have probably guessed by now, the topic this week is exercising your mind.

TODAY’S TIP: Do something new and different that you have not done before or in a long time that simulates your mind.

Are you clear headed or empty headed?

Some people would think that playing video games simulate the mind. They do to a point. But the repetition actually dulls the mind. We have a great many video game players that have the best hand eye coordination in the world, but know very little about other things.

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” ~ Mother Teresa

At one time or another we all hit the wall as the saying goes. We get stuck. What do you do when that happens. Here is some advice on how to overcome the hurdles.

Twelve Qualities of Spirit – Clarity By Peri Coeurtney Enkin

What do you do when it seems as if your own resources have run out? Are you tempted to throw in the towel and give up? Do you sit on the couch waiting for a miracle? Do you dream of being rescued? Do you hope for a thunderbolt of inspiration to descend upon you from the heavens, or at the very least wish for a good-looking muse to appear at your doorstep? Most of us do some variation of all of the above!

Something amazing happens when you think you have gone as far as you can go toward a specific target. It does not matter if you are reaching for financial freedom, loving relationships, vibrant health or meaningful work. A block is a block. When you hit a wall it is tempting to throw up your arms, collapse in a heap on the couch and stop functioning. There is another option.

It takes some skill to exercise this option but once you get the hang of it breakthroughs happen quickly and steadily. Blocks dissolve with ease. The flow of opportunities and new possibilities increases. You are never stuck the way you once were.

This is something I have come to call The Connection Option. It used to be that I would only remember about it when I hit rock bottom. Most of the time I was too busy worrying about problems or trying to figure things out to give it my attention. Even though it was always available, I often forgot about its existence.

If you rely on logic for answers or need physical proof before you believe something can happen the connection option will challenge you. You will see others manifesting their dreams by connecting with their own invisible essence and you will wonder how it is possible.

Here it is then. In the midst of any problem, at the center of any obstacle or difficulty there is a switch. You have the option to turn that switch on or off. When it is off you think you are small and limited. When it is on you remember your connection to an unlimited flow of inner resources – your own spiritual qualities. You know that an energy force that contains all you could ever need or desire flows through you. And as you remember your connection, you gain access to your own magnificence. You have this option. Turn on the switch and remember your connection. Turn off the switch and forget about it.

The truth is you can never really be disconnected from the source of life that flows through you. The issue is are you remembering or forgetting? And once you remember then what?

In this time of awakening, many people are remembering their connection. Once connected it helps to know what you are looking for. In this and upcoming special reports I invite you to remember and connect with Twelve Qualities of Spirit. As you read about each quality I suggest you do two things: Affirm your connection to this spiritual quality and consider where in your life things would be different if you opened up and allowed this quality to flow more freely.

The Connection Option: Clarity
The Energy of Life is clear and on purpose. Each and every one of us has a clear purpose and unique presence. We actualize our potentials when we connect with the energy of clarity that guides and moves us from within.

As a Victim: We care what other people think more than we listen to our own inner guidance. We let opinions; beliefs and advice from others drown out our own thoughts and feelings. We can’t hear our inner selves and so we live in a fog. We flounder around hoping someone will come up with the answers to our questions and give us the clarity we seek.

As a Creator: We turn within for Clarity. We know there is a natural stream of clarity steadily running through us. We trust that the spiritual quality of clarity belongs to us. It is available when we center in our own being and listen within. We relax and connect with our own inner knowing and let it guide us.

TODAY’S TIP: Always turn within when trying to find solutions. Connecting with spirit will give you the answers.

Did you find the solution?
