<p>That which we call failure is a part of everyone’s life. It is your attitude that determines if failure is a deal breaker or simply an obstacle to overcome. Each day is a new day and the opportunity to begin again.</p>
<p>How do you view failure? How do you deal with it? Those who allow weakness and fear to control them turn in the rest of their life when faced with it. Those with courage start again and again until they achieve success.</p>
<p>We are the creators of our reality. In order to create the reality of our choice it is necessary to be able to see beyond the obstacles and barriers that appear along our path.</p>
<p>The greatest destructive force in life is fear. In the Ultimate Healthy Lifestyle we realize that fear is simply not knowing. We fear that which we do not know.</p>
<p>We are told that we must confront our fears but if we do our fear will win. Confrontation only adds to the conflict. We must work through our fear. We do this by accepting it and understanding it. Once we understand it, it becomes easy to work through it.</p>
<p>Also we must have clear intentions and precise goals. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times in his attempt to invent the electric light. His intention and goal was strong enough to get him to the 10,001 attempt and success. How strong is your intent?</p>
<p>It is said that we are equipped to handle anything that life throws at us. We can as long as we stay connected to our spirit or source energy. After all life is our blessing and the world our oyster.</p>
<p>Start each day with a fresh attitude and the determination to not let life’s curves throw you for a loop. You are only defeated when you give up. As long as you are working towards your goal it really does not matter if you ever accomplish it.</p>
<p>The joy is in the journey. As long as you are on the path you can experience the joy and if life ends before you get to the goal, it’s alright. You were joyful and life was good. If you stop any place along the way you forfeit the rest of your life.</p>
<p>This is the attitude to start with each day. Failure is only to teach us. Each obstacle and barrier is the opportunity to learn a lesson and become better Human Beings. If there were no obstacles we would remain in a rut, never experiencing the joys of living.</p>
<p><strong>TODAY’S TIP: </strong>when ever you feel that you have failed remind yourself that you still have time to start over. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and begin again.</p>

<p>Everything changes, you cannot stop changes. You can however direct those changes so they lead you in a positive direction. You can choose to change in ways that enhance your life and bring you more joy.</p>
<p>Most people allow luck or chance to dictate the changes in their lives. That is why some people have more downs than ups. It is a choice.</p>
<p>How do you choose to direct the course of your life, to not allow “faith” to push and shove you wherever it will?  First, you must decide exactly what you want out of life and where you want to go. Then, you must set your intent on obtaining the desired results. You must strengthen your intent to the point you are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish your desired results.</p>
<p>In an earlier post I mentioned discipline. To most people this is a dirty word. In reality discipline is a combination of desire and determination. With this combination one is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve a desired goal. This is how to win in the game of life.</p>
<p>The reason most people look at discipline as something to be avoided is because they see only the effort they would have to put forth. However discipline is something that one cannot avoid. We discipline ourselves to go to work each day and complete all the others habits and patterns we have established.</p>
<p>Discipline can be fun if it is practiced as a part the ultimate healthy lifestyle in the game of life. If we make a game of it and keep focused on the desired outcome, not the effort, it can be enjoyable as we see our desires becoming a part of our reality.</p>
<p>We have more control over our lives than any of us can imagine. We must believe that we are meant to be happy and enjoy our lives. It is possible!</p>
<p><strong>TODAY’S TIP: </strong>Make a habit of taking time to do something nice for yourself each and everyday. Do something that you enjoy and makes you feel good.</p>
<p>Are you enjoying life? If not, why not? You are responsible for your life, so are you  making the best of it?</p>

<p>I should probably explain the title of this post before you think I am losing it. It has been said that your mind is your best friend or your worse enemy, depending on whether you control it or it controls you. I prefer to substitute the word ego for mind.</p>
<p>The ego is a most powerful force in our lives. If we allow the ego to control us it can cause havoc. It can make us believe we believe something that we do not actually believe. It can also make us believe that we don’t believe something that we do believe.</p>
<p>There are two levels of belief. One level is in the mind and the other level is in the heart. The heart is the center of true belief. Think about this. The amount of real truth a person lives is directly reflected in the quality of their life. Those who live their lives in continual crisis have allowed their ego to make them believe things that are not true. If one lives in truth their life is a pleasurable and satisfying adventure.</p>
<p>We were meant to be happy in life. The only thing that prevents that is our self or more precisely, our egos. Have you noticed that you think many thoughts you do not want to think, that bring negativity into your lives.</p>
<p>The ego seeks control and will do anything it can to maintain that control. It will even destroy a person before it will give up that control. If the ego is controled it then becomes a friend that will do anything to help brighten the path and lighten the load.</p>
<p>The following was written by Carl Coffman.</p>
<p align="center"><strong>THERE GO, EGO</strong></p>
<p>Oops, there it goes again, that silly ego: drugged on thoughts of self-importance and pleasure, grabbing at straws of virtuous babble. The mind is such a wonderful tool, but to clog it up with an inflow of false images and selfish desires seems to turn it back upon itself. This limits the programming to cyclic dramas of pain and pleasure, repeating the same old lessons over and over. Yes, the mind even forgets why it’s here sometimes, limiting love by so many misconceptions.</p>
<p>But soul still guides the ego, as would a gentle parent, into a new, wider view of self. There is no one correct path or winning team to play for. There are only choices and viewpoints all expressing the heaven within. Soul purifies the ego, until, letting go of the fear; it steps beyond itself to find a new, more vibrant form. A new way of being a channel for spirit. The fear and doubts about giving of one’s self, or letting go of certain limits, drop away as a new cycle of action is initiated.</p>
<p>Listen, beyond the churning and clicking of the body and mind the divine silence sings sweetly. Look, for beyond the narrow gate the flowered field promises freedom. Home shines brightly, just over the hill, just beyond yesterday’s dreams.</p>
<p>The sun is shadow, a name, but an echo. Brash mind, child at heart, such power wasted in the mocking reverie, such love lying asleep in false darknesses. The paradox is but a simple joke, awaiting you to share the punch line. But, still a few lessons are yet undone, like unveiling that mortal statue erected eons ago, in fear and false honor.</p>
<p>Vanity still lingers in that mirror of matter, that folly of life versus death. All those ego dreams and delicious, intricate, empty thoughts are so unsatisfying when experienced apart from soul, the true center of being when lending the talents of creation to the spirit within, the mask drops to the floor. Relief softens the tense line of pretending with a shining, beaming of acceptance of the inner self, the glorious, loving playful soul. ~ Carl Coffman~</p>
<p>Work to make your ego a friend. Refuse to allow it to control you. Each day take time to quiet your mind and silence the ego. Practicing gratitude and humility goes along way in keeping the ego in check. We shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously because in the grand scheme of things we are only specks.</p>
<p><strong>TODAY’S TIP: </strong>When drinking water do not drink more than 32 ounces in one hour. This is as much as the body can process and anything more than that can cause problems.</p>

<p>Here are some ideas on how to break or overcome the barriers that make personal change so difficult.</p>
<p><strong>Breaking Through the Barriers &#8211; 6 Steps to Personal Change</strong> By Len Strickler</p>
<p>Change is one of those things we all have to live with. &#8220;Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future,&#8221; Irving Janus.</p>
<p>I grew up as the oldest of eight in Philadelphia. My mother and grandmother raised me, and I remember early on my grandmother introducing me to reading. Two books that made a difference in my life were &#8220;As a Man Thinketh&#8221; by James Allen, in which I learned man had dominion over all other creation and the power of thought, reasoning and choice, and &#8220;Think and Grow Rich&#8221; by Napoleon Hill; from this one I learned &#8220;every adversity carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.&#8221; You see it is not the circumstances that matter, but how we react to the circumstances. It all starts with one thought which is totally our choice.</p>
<p>The following are six steps to personal change. They all start in the mind with positive choices and we must take responsibility for our thoughts and actions.</p>
<p>1. You must re-program your thinking to change your beliefs. This can be done with positive<br />
affirmations and visualization.</p>
<p>2. Re-Program your beliefs you change your expectations. Positive expectations bring:<br />
Excitement<br />
Conviction<br />
Desire<br />
Confidence<br />
Commitment<br />
Energy</p>
<p>3. Renew your expectations and change your attitude. &#8220;Change your attitude you change your altitude,&#8221; Zig Ziglar.</p>
<p>4. Renew your attitude and change your behavior. It is all about action and results.</p>
<p>5. Change your behavior and change your performance. The right action and the right results.</p>
<p>6. Change your performance and you change your life. Now you have a habit after 21 days of positive affirmations</p>
<p>Change is the one thing we all can count on. All of us as individuals and leaders must learn to welcome and manage change. If there is no change needed in an individual, then we stagnate and move backwards. In an organization if there are no barriers there is no need for leaders, as they are hired to be change agents. In other words, no barriers, no opportunities. Therefore change is personal, possible and profitable.</p>

<p><strong>Becoming Your Own Personal Change Agent</strong> By Shelley Roy</p>
<p><strong>Spring is in the air!</strong></p>
<p>Spring has come to Minnesota at last&#8230; just yesterday, as I looked outside into my backyard, I saw a big fat robin, one of the heralds of spring pecking the ground, enjoying the first seeds of the season. A warm feeling washed over me as I watched her slow progress across the yard. Then I noticed my yard was full of robins. I counted at least 30 grazing in the grass. It was an amazing sight, and I took a moment to pause and enjoy nature in all her glory. Seeing a robin is thought to be a sign that new growth is coming in many areas of your life. Imagine what seeing 30 must mean?   I guess I&#8217;m going to see a lot of changes this year. It&#8217;s probably a good thing that change is a subject I&#8217;m very familiar with.</p>
<p>One of the most important things I&#8217;ve learned about change in my life is that it isn&#8217;t going away any time soon. We all experience it, throughout our lives, in both small and large ways, from getting a new purse to changing careers and moving across the globe. We all need to learn to be our own personal change-agents.  In fact I believe learning to manage change is a critical life skill which is second only to the skill and practice of self-evaluation.   Here are 10 helpful hints that I believe can help anyone be his or her own personal change-agent.</p>
<ol>
<li>View change as an opportunity      for growth. Attitude is everything!</li>
<li>Create a support network, and      don&#8217;t&#8217; be afraid to ask for help. Don&#8217;t try to be      superwoman! The Beatles had it right &#8211; &#8220;I&#8217;ll get by with a      little help from my friends.&#8221;</li>
<li>Ask yourself what losses you      are perceiving and how might you overcome them. Remember that to grab      onto something new, you often must let go of something you are holding on      to. There is a gift in every loss; find it and remember it often. As      Milt Campbell says &#8220;Let your loss be your lesson.&#8221;</li>
<li>Remember it&#8217;s OK to make a      mistake. Carry a personal rewind button around and use it often! As      Bil Keane, author of The Family Circus, reminds us &#8220;You can learn      from you mistakes, so be sure to make some.&#8221;</li>
<li>Give yourself time! Even      the Israelites wandered in the dessert for forty years looking for the      Promised Land. Let&#8217;s hope it doesn&#8217;t take forty years, but remind yourself      you need time to reorganize.</li>
<li>Think about your      relationships and connections. Ask yourself, what connections will      facilitate your emergence from your cocoon as you become a gloriously new      butterfly?&#8221;</li>
<li>Be aware of the context in      which you exist. Even the best seeds will not grow when planted in      fallow ground. A little water, sunshine and fertilizer go a long way      toward helping even the smallest seed to grow.</li>
<li>Think like a systems thinker;      think of feedback loops, time and the whole. Systems thinkers understand      the synergistic nature of change which explains why small changes can have      big impacts.</li>
<li>Remember what PCT(perceptual      control theory) teachers about the change process:</li>
</ol>
<p>You will probably feel out of control.</p>
<p>We experience change as a winding path of growth.</p>
<p>You may experience opposing feelings like sadness and joy.</p>
<p>We humans are extremely adaptable creatures.</p>
<p>You will eventually &#8220;figure it out&#8221; because that&#8217;s how we stay alive.</p>
<ol>
<li>Celebrate your small      successes! Because PCT teaches us that we are designed to see what isn&#8217;t      working, it is especially essential during change to focus purposefully on      what is working in your life.</li>
</ol>
<p>As I watch spring come to Minnesota and think about change, I am always reminded of my favorite quote</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>It is through change that we can live our lives in full bloom!</p>

<p><strong>The 8 Stages of Personal Change &#8211; From Contemplation to Celebration</strong> By Michael Searles</p>
<p>One of the mistakes often made when starting a serious lifestyle change is not following a proven sequence of steps to ensure a more successful outcome.</p>
<p>Psychologists have researched and discovered that when we identify and pursue eight sequential stages of personal change we can greatly increase our chances of bringing about the desired changes in our lives and improve the likelihood of maintaining those changes.</p>
<p>People have different needs for considering a lifestyle change. What&#8217;s yours?</p>
<p>Is it to begin a weight loss or healthier eating program, give up an unhealthy habit or starting a healthy one or is it a change in the way you communicate with those you love and live with.</p>
<p>Whatever your personal lifestyles change you can commence it more confidently by understanding The 8 Stages of Personal Change.</p>
<p>1. <strong>Reluctant Contemplation</strong> (I know I have a problem but I&#8217;m not ready to do anything about it yet)</p>
<p>2. <strong>Co-operative Contemplation</strong> (I still have my problem and I&#8217;m ready now to do something about it)</p>
<p>3. <strong>Dissatisfaction Inventory</strong> (I&#8217;ve had a deliberate thinking session on this problem to assess the negative impacts it is having)</p>
<p>4. <strong>Serious Planning</strong> (I&#8217;ve set a goal in writing complete with a start and finish date and specific action steps to take along the way)</p>
<p>5. <strong>Committed Action</strong> (I&#8217;ve turned my goal into an action plan by doing the things I said I would when I set my goal)</p>
<p>6. <strong>Monitored Progression</strong> (I monitor my progress along the goal path and make adjustments when necessary to stay on track)</p>
<p>7. <strong>Anticipated Regression</strong> (Regression is ok! Accepting regression is vital so long as I get back on track as soon as possible)</p>
<p>8. <strong>Completion</strong> (Hooray, I&#8217;m here. I set my goal and worked my plan. Now where&#8217;s that reward I promised myself?)</p>
<p>I can vouch for the effectiveness of these simple stages for positive personal change.</p>
<p>If I hadn&#8217;t lived through each of these steps myself several times over in order to make some important changes in my own life recently I would only be guessing about the effectiveness of The 8 Stages for positive personal change.</p>

<p>How often have you heard someone say; I don&#8217;t want to change , I like things the way they are? One reason to change is to build self esteem which is so important to success in life. Here are some thoughts on that.</p>

<p>Self-Esteem is sometimes considered a subject for &#8216;new age&#8217; people. The importance of a healthy self-esteem is sadly over-looked by a good majority of people on this planet.</p>
<p>Changing our limiting beliefs about ourselves is the first step in building more self-esteem. Every thought, feeling, decision, action and result that occurs for us is directly related to the beliefs that we have about ourselves. It&#8217;s that simple! So why would we not want to pay attention to that fact? That is one of the mysteries of life.</p>
<p>Our belief systems are formed at an early age and we have no control over them at the time. But as we grow and evolve, we always have the opportunity to observe how we perceive the world and hence have the choice to change anything we want that doesn&#8217;t contribute to us. Being prompted to observe our results, usually occurs at a difficult time in our lives. When life is joyful and serene, we have no reason to question it.</p>
<p>So when we are at a crossroad in our life and we need to change our limiting beliefs, it sometimes helps to have some guidelines. Here are 5 steps to get you going.</p>
<p>1. Write down what is happening in your life that isn&#8217;t working and underneath it how things would look if they were the way you want them to be.</p>
<p>2. Confide in someone who is objective to your situation and who will listen to you as you express how things are. The answers are inside of you and this person does not need to give his version of a resolution. He just needs to listen.</p>
<p>3. The one most important thing to remember at this point is that you cannot change another individual. You can only change your own beliefs about the situation and your own perceptions. You can talk to individuals who are closely connected to and part of the situation, but you ultimately have to change yourself.</p>
<p>4. You need to know how special and unique you are in the world. Chances are your beliefs about yourself don&#8217;t know that. Well, it is true. There is only one of you. You are intended on this planet at this time. If you knew that you had something to contribute that only you could give, your self-esteem would soar.</p>
<p>5. Put yourself first. It is necessary now, so that you can be your best for others. (We can look after the children and still take care of our own needs.) Know what you need and set your boundaries. The better you treat yourself, the more self-esteem you build. Honor yourself and embrace what is truly you.</p>
<p>6. Remember that it takes time to change the beliefs that you have held for so long. Be patient and move one step at a time. And it takes courage to make changes. Congratulate yourself for that courage. The payoff is big and well worth the risk.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m back. Sorry for the interruption in my posts with no notice. The last few weeks have been hectic with travel and performing.</p>
<p>I am a part of a Chautauqua program here in my state. I perform a program called, &#8220;From slave to Superstar&#8221; the life of Jim Beckwourth. Jim was born a slave then went on to accomplish some amazing things, like founding Pueblo, Colorado and becoming chief of the Crow Indian Nation.</p>
<p>February, being Black History Month, was very busy for me and unfortunately I neglected  my blog. I am back now so lets get to work.</p>
<p>This week we will talk about personal change. I have chosen this subject because my own change has been on my mind while I was away. It is said that the teacher teaches what he most needs to learn. I guess this subject is one that I need to delve into more.</p>
<p>I have discovered areas in my life that I have neglected and need to take more control over the direction of the change. Or should I say I admitted to myself that there needs to be change.</p>
<p>It is very easy to find things to blame outside ourselves when things do not go as we wish them to in our lives. Most of us spend our time trying to change the circumstance around us when we should be concentrating on changing what is inside us.</p>
<p>I am sure you have heard the advice, Change your thoughts and your life will change. Your thoughts change with or without your awareness. The key is to direct that change in a way that is constructive and productive.</p>
<p>The vast majority of people on Earth allow themselves to be pushed and pulled by the whims of chance. They do not understand that they have the power to direct their lives in the direction of their choice. Many of those who do know they have that power are stifled by fear.</p>
<p>It is your choice, will you be a part of the majority or will you gather the courage and determination to become a member of that elite group who are true masters of their fate.</p>
<p>You cannot stop change, you can only direct it, if you have enough heart.</p>
<p><strong>TODAY&#8217;S TIP: </strong>Take a honest inward journey and look at the areas that need change in your life. Then commit to positive change.</p>

<p>Most people fail to tap into their maximum potential in life because they do not know how they can do it. In fact, as long as you follow through the 5 keys that I am going to share with you in this article, you will be able to achieve all your goals and make all your dreams come true. So here are the 5 keys that can help you in your road to success&#8230;</p>
<p>1. Always keep your goals and your dreams in your mind. Successful people think about what they want to accomplish in their lives all the time. They can talk and dream about it the whole day. And you must do the same. Whenever you focus and think about what you want, you will condition that thought into your subconscious and this allows you to act automatically to do what it takes to achieve what you want.</p>
<p>2. Write down your goals in a piece of paper. Your goals and your dreams can be easily forgotten. Therefore, you need to write them down so that whenever you look at them, they will remind you of your mission in your life. Have you ever come across people who tell you that they want to be rich in this instant but forget about it in the next hour? Do not let this happen to you. This is why you need to write down what you want to accomplish in your life. Do it now.</p>
<p>3. Learn to be an expert in your life. No matter who you are in your life, a teacher, a student, a father, a friend, a soldier, a manager, etc, you need to learn how to be an expert in it. If you can be the top 5% in your industry, you will be ultimately successful. And one of the keys how you can achieve this is by constant learning and improving. You can read books, attend seminars, join workshops or find someone to teach and coach you to become great in what you do.</p>
<p>4. Plan your day. Write down what you will have to do tomorrow before you go to bed tonight. Plan your day in advance so that you will know exactly what you will have to do the next day. Planning helps you to better organize and better focus on the direction you are heading in your life. Thus, write down a minimum of 5 actions that you will have to take tomorrow to achieve your goals right now. Do this for the next 21 days and see the powerful results for yourself.</p>
<p>5. Take action and keep it moving. If you want to produce the results you want in your life, you must take action. If you are not doing anything about your dreams, you will never achieve them. Nothing moves until you do something. You do not have to wait for the perfect timing or wait for everything to be right. You just need to keep it moving. This is how successful are able to unleash their maximum potential in life.</p>

<p>Discovering your true potential may take some effort and soul searching. Here are some thoughts on that subject.</p>
<p><strong>Discover Your True Potential &#8211; 8 Nuggets to Inspire You to the Greatness Inside You </strong>By Fitzgerald Mujuru</p>
<p>The potential in a person can only be given birth to by the one who carries it. I know there&#8217;s potential in all of us to do evil, by I put it to you that there&#8217;s more goodness in you than you imagine. The reason why there was celebration surrounding your birth and entry into the arena called earth is because you represented unique seeds of destiny called potential packed inside you. As you grew and discovered the world around you. You were curious and you were learning and growing fast. It is my submission that a lot of people are broke, financially, mentally, spiritually and morally bankrupt because they haven&#8217;t discovered their true potential as an agent for change and development. They live within and below their means because they have never discovered who they really are and how they are put together. It is sad to have a potential world class musical superstar with a voice that brings the heavens down working in a porridge factory. Don&#8217;t get me wrong, it&#8217;s okay when you are getting started and discovering yourself, but don&#8217;t stay below your potential.</p>
<p>I want to help you discover yourself by sharing these eight reminders below.<br />
1. You carry potential for good, for contribution to humanity, but for how long are you going to carry it? Your mother only carried you for nine months. Some of your dreams are long overdue and I have come to announce that it&#8217;s time to unleash them.<br />
2. Potential that is not realized can lead to death and complications just like in the case of the lady who is pregnant. The normal process of bringing to bear that which you carry must be gone through. It might require something extraordinary but you are still responsible for its birth.<br />
3. The discovery of potential and the decision to utilize it is so crucial in one&#8217;s life that it leads to a small, unfulfilled life without joy for those that do not discover it. Conversely those who utilize what they have, accrue great rewards, notoriety and fame in the process. That is why you are spending so much time and money in order to watch these &#8220;stars&#8221; perform on television shows.<br />
4. Potential and possibility are two words that are potent with what can be yours in the future if you are willing to do what is required.<br />
5. You are equipped with everything that you need to succeed from the day of your birth. On the day you die without fulfilling your potential, everything you carry dies with you. What a sad day that will be. People that unlocked and unleashed their potential will be celebrated even at their funerals. That is why they are called celebrities.<br />
6. Discovering how you can leverage on natural ability that you are endowed with, has been difficult for you until now, because you have not been willing to start small. I know of a lot sporting personalities and other gifted individuals who tapped into the true worth of their potential after somebody discovered them. You have to be seen in order to be discovered. Begin where you are.<br />
7. You wait day in day out for a cataclysmic event to occur or an announcement from heaven that now it&#8217;s time. It&#8217;s not going to happen that way, but you will still be accountable; for to whom much is given, much is required.<br />
8. The streets are full of potential CEO&#8217;s Doctors, entrepreneurs, radiologists, who never discovered their potential and are quite content to survive on menial jobs and income because of a low self &#8211; esteem.</p>
<p>A hunger for the uncommon life that is not mediocre will lead you to the place where you will discover your true potential, where you will begin to extract value for yourself and others.</p>
