Are you balanced?

“The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can do that, and live that way, you are really a wise man.” ~ Euripides ~

We hear a lot of talk about balance in our lives these days. Until recently this was thought to be a part of the “new age” philosophy. Today main stream society is beginning to gleam the important of balance in one’s life.

What is this balance? Some would say that the balance is the center point between two opposites. It that were true it would fall into that so called gray area. The middle point between light and dark, or good and evil.

In reality balance in a person’s life is not so clearly defined. We are talking about different types of balance. We are talking about balance as in Mind, body, and spirit or soul. We are talking about balance in all areas of a person’s life.

Let’s look at the areas of a person’s life first. Those areas are physical, mental, emotional, financial, spiritual, and social.

PHYSICAL: Are you doing the things that result in a healthy and whole body. Is your body balanced with the natural way of things, which is health? From source, or God, there is only health.

MENTAL: Again, are you doing the things that result in peace of mind, as in the natural order of things? Only peace of mind comes from source.

EMOTIONAL: Do you live your life in a way that results in calmness of emotions? Do you feel good? Only good feelings come from source.

FINANCIAL: Do you have enough money to meet your basic needs? If you do not, why not? If not what do you need to do to change that reality?

SPIRITUAL: Are you content and joyous in life? What are your beliefs about life, God, Spirit, and so on? Are you connected with your source?

SOCIAL: Do you have people around you who are supportive and loving? Are you supportive and loving with others?

These are all questions to ask yourself, especially if there is an area of your life which you are not satisfied with. Time grows short and now is the time to do a little soul searching. Be completely honest with yourself and look at the areas of your life that you are not completely satisfied with.

If you find an area of dissatisfaction, ask yourself what you can do to improve it. What would that area look like if you were satisfied with it? Then write out a plan of action to make it so.

This is your balance. Each area of your life balanced with all the others and that in turn balances mind, body, soul.

TODAY’S TIP: Do something each day that will make you a better human being. It does not have to be something grand. Baby steps are acceptable as long as there is forward progress. You will be rewarded.

What will you do today?
