Are you the great I AM?

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.” ~Charles R. Swindoll ~

The most powerful words a human being can speak is; “I AM.” I am happy, I am healthy, I am wealthy, I am love. You can go on and on.

You need to continually tell yourself who you are and what you are. That is why these words are so important. There is a story of a man who asked God what his name was. God replied, I am the great I am. Are you the great I am?

If you don’t think so, ask yourself why. After all you were created in the image and likeness of God. We are afraid of the power we possess. Perhaps because our society has conditioned us to believe less of ourselves.

We have many people and institutions that attempt to control our lives and what we do with them. Many people, such as politicians and priests, take pleasure in being able to manipulate others to believe a certain way and act a certain way.

Because we have been conditioned from birth it can be very difficult to break free of that conditioning and live our life as we think we should. When we do so we seem to be going against the grain, or as they say, marching to a different drummer.

When we attempt to be our own person we get all kinds of opposition. Most coming from people who are well meaning but are allowing their fear dictate their advice or counsel.

We also have a natural desire to want to be accepted and please those around us. This can add to the difficulty of raising to the challenge.

Cultivate the attitude that you are indeed a unique individual and live your life accordingly. Believe that you are meant to enjoy life and bear the fruits of you labor. Don’t allow the opinions of others deter you from making the best of your life and living as you desire. The only thing that would make it wrong is that you take from others that which they do not want to give.

TODAY’S TIP: Say to yourself each day, “I am” and finish that sentence with words appropriate for you.

Will you be greater tomorrow?
