Can you see yourself?

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” ~ Carl Gustav Jung

What do you see when you like at your mate or others? Do you see their shortcomings, their faults and weaknesses? What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see your shortcomings, your faults and weaknesses?

For most of us it is easier to see the faults of others than to see our own faults. The reason we don’t see our own faults is because we are like a horse with blinders on. The blinders are to make the horse look straight ahead and not be distracted by things around it.

We look straight ahead as if we were wearing blinders until we are able to step outside ourselves and develop self awareness. Self awareness comes only with self honesty.

One way of seeing ourselves is by being aware of what we are seeing in others. We can only see what is in our Universe. This means we can only see the things we see in others if we have those things in ourselves.

So, when you look at your spouse and  see a fault or weakness, it is a fault or weakness that you also have.

We want to change our mates to become more perfect, but we run into trouble when we do. So how do we change them so that they rid themselves of the faults we see in them?

We change them by changing ourselves. When we get rid of the fault we saw in them in ourselves, we no longer see it in them.

I remember a mural I used to see downtown in the city I live in. There was a picture of Mother Earth and the words, “If you want to change her, change yourself.” This is the same with those close to us.

Our responsibility in life is to be the very best we can be. It is not to make others the best that they can be, that is up to them.

We usually rag on others about their faults because of our insecurities within ourselves. We see it in them and subconsciously know that we have it ourselves. We react out of quilt. It is easier than admitting our fault and correcting it. We are conditioned to see only that which is outside of ourselves.

We all have a reason for being here. It is to learn and grow. We are given all the tools that we need to fulfill our destinies and live lives filled with peace and love. One of those tools is that we are each mirror reflections of each other.

We attract others into our lives because we have something to teach each other. Notice I said teach each other. It is a two way street. We give to others and others give to us. This is the way of the Universe.

TODAY’S TIP: The next time you see fault in another stop and look at yourself. Be honest with yourself.

Are you seeing clearly?
