Did you meditate this morning?
“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.” ~ Buddha
I have often mentioned meditation in my posts. The reason I do so is because of the importance I place on disciplined meditation practice. A sage once said, “know thyself,” and the best way to get to know thyself is through meditation.
Meditation takes one away from the illusion which is life into the reality of spirit and the true self. We are created in the image and likeness of God, which means we are miniature Gods. We have the qualities of God in a minute way.
God created the heavens and earth. We create our own individual heavens and earth. We create our reality, knowingly or unknowingly, intentionally or unintentionally.
The difference between intentionally and unintentionally is whether we control our mind and thoughts or they control us. Meditation is the key to gaining control,
When we meditate we calm the body and mind, thereby quieting that internal dialogue that is negative chatter if left to itself. With continuous practice of meditation we cultivate the ability to direct our thoughts in a positive direction.
In this way we become more aware of our connection with spirit, God, or what ever word you chose to use and we are better able to use our power to create the life we dream of.
Meditation also improves our health by relaxing the body and removing stress from our lives. In this state we are able to deal with our obstacles and problems in more productive ways.Without the stress we are less likely to attract dis-ease and illness.
As you can see the benefits of meditation are many. It is well worth the energy it takes to establish a daily practice of meditation.
If you have not meditated it will not be an easy task to establish a regular, daily practice. The reason for this is that the mind or ego controls most of us and does not want to give up that control. It will fight you, to get you to give up, because it would rather destroy you than give up control.
In starting to practice I suggest that you commit to six months of at least once a day, twice a day is preferable, for 15 to 20 minutes. I would not try to do more than 20 minutes starting out.
It will probably take 2 or 3 months before you feel that you are accomplishing anything, but it is worth the perseverance. The key is to sit for the time you have allowed for your meditation and keep refocusing.
In time the time you have allowed will go by so fast it seems only a moment and you will feel rested and energized.
There are many techniques or styles of meditation. You need find the technique you like and practice, practice, practice.
This week we devote to meditation and its benefits.
TODAY’S TIP: Commit to six months of meditation practice. It will change your life.
Will you commit?
