Do you exercise?
“Lack of Activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it” ~ Plato ~
The body is an electrically operated machine and as such needs to be used. If you let your car sit for an extended length of time you would have problems with it when you decided to use it. The same is true of the body.
Automobile manufacturers have a recommended maintenance plan for your auto which most people follow. They change the oil regularly and replace the filters when needed. Many people are careful about the gas they put into their cars.
Although most people take good car of their cars, most are not so particularf about their bodies. Few have a maintenance plan for their body. Many do not think about their body until something happens to it.
Does is not make sense to at least take as good care of your body as you do your car? After all, if your car breaks down and cannot be repaired you can go buy another one. If your body breaks down and cannot be repaired you are done. There are no new body dealerships.
Many people do not want to talk about physical exercise. They make all kinds of excuses as to why they do not exercise. The most used is, “I don”t have time.” I think this calls for a second quote.
“Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.” ~ Edward Stanley ~
It is said that one cannot live in the future, but one should be aware that what one does today will determine the future. If one ignores and abuses their body today their future will most likely bring illness and infirmity.
My favorite example of this is the smoker who says they don’t quit because they will die of something and they enjoy smoking. Of course they know that smoking is killing them and death from smoking is a painful death.
Here is a news flash for them. You don’t have to die from something, You can die from nothing. I am sure you have heard of people going to sleep one night and not waking up the next morning. Some of them were in perfect health.
The choices you are making today are determining the manner of your death. Which would you prefer; a painful, agonizing death or going peacefully in your sleep?
Recent studies have shown that the body can get all the exercise it needs in 10 minute segments two or three times a day. If you feel that you don’t have time to exercise I suggest you check out the P.A.C.E. program by Dr. Al Sears.
