Do you follow the crowd?

Today I offer the thoughts of one’s experience with thinking for himself.
How to Be Realistic and Genuinely Think For Yourself Without Fear Or Dishonesty By Joshua Clayton
It is hard not to follow the mass mind and group consciousness of the world, it is easy to follow everyone who is “going off the cliff” so to speak. In fact some famous last words could be “everyone is doing it.” In life and existence though, with consciousness comes responsibility, and that responsibility is what I want to write about. Sure, this could be one of my standard articles where I admonish you and act like I am not guilty of the things I am railing against sometimes. But this is not one of those. This is a very personal subject for me. For, sometimes, like anyone, I do care what people think, even if they are following the herd and “succeeding.” Especially then, because they seem to have some measure of success in life. But still, indeed, I see that as no excuse to “follow anyone” and not think for myself, no matter how hard the going is.
Yes, when I think, I think slowly, deliberately, honestly and soberly about all things. Then when I come to a decision, I act quickly, decisively and honestly though. I always try to do the right thing, although at times I do not succeed, like anyone. I live like few do in this world with a certain consistency that makes things all right in a genuine way and sense. So, genuine success usually happens after much seeming failure. Why do I say that? Because I am genuinely and definitely “guilty” of genuinely living and existing this fact. To make it plain, I live like a genuinely “winning gambler”, by genuine statistical odds and return on investment instead of by luck, chance or superstition like genuinely losing gamblers do. Losing gamblers lose because they live by luck, chance, cheating, superstition and just plain not logical thinking and action. So, I have to say here: “I am sorry, but the pot at the end of the rainbow is reserved for those who invest and earn it doing something genuine, not stake an unknown gamble based on nothing.” Luck, chance, superstition and “warm” illogical thinking is for losers. “Coldly” logical thinking, return on investment, realistic action by sober process is for the winners and the domain of the honestly successful.
A losing whim is a losing whim, but, to win is to consider all logical options even if you seemingly lose at first and stick with the most honestly logical option that ultimately garners success. The “game of life” is up to everyone who plays it, and no matter what the superstition, everyone has a choice in their lives on how to “play that game,” life. Sure, I can come up with beautiful sounding theory instead of reality, but beautiful sounding theory is just thinly veiled superstition that does not work in reality. Think about the word superstition, look it up in the dictionary even and see if I am not right about what I am saying there. Theory cannot turn “lead into gold,” but the “lead stays lead” and nothing changes. Only actual action, realistic change, and cold hard reality of situations can do anything. So, never give away your power to superstition, and you or anyone, will be the most genuine of winners.
