Do you have more to be thankful for?

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.” ~ Johannes A. Gaertner

This week we have concentrated on gratitude and what it means to be thankful. As I mentioned at the beginning of the week, thanksgiving is not an annual event, it is a way of life.

Seeking, each day, to find things to be thankful for will result in being able to experience miracles. When one is grateful one cannot help but be happy. Happy to be alive.

I volunteer at a living history museum where we dress up in period clothing and tell visitors about the history of our area. One day I was preparing to start the day there when all of a sudden a most wonderful feeling came over me. At the same moment the thought came into my mind that it was great to be alive, to be able to bring a little happiness into other lives with such a simple thing as showing them how people lived in the past.

It is especially gratifying to see the joy on the children’ s faces. This experience reminded me of how little it really takes to be happy. Happiness is a state of mind. It does not take things.

I hope that you have become more aware of what it means to be thankful and the importance of gratitude in your life.

Cultivating an attitude of gratitude for the things you have and not dwelling in a sense of lack for the things you want or don’t have is the difference between a life well lived and a life of sorrow and disappointment.

Always remember that you are creating your reality and you get to choose to live a life of positive expectation or a life of misery. Which will you choose?

Here is my challenge to you. If you do not keep a gratitude journal, start one today. Each night before bed write 10 things that you are grateful for that happened that day. It may seem difficult at first but it will get easier as you go along.

Remember that the things you are thankful for need not be major events. They can be simple, such as the smile of a child, a greeting from a co-worker or the fact that you woke up that morning.

If you do this you will find more to be thankful for each day.

TODAY’S TIP: Live your life in gratitude and your life will be filled with abundance.
