How do I start the Ultimate Healthy Lifestyle?

“He who chooses the beginning of a road chooses the place it leads to. It is the means that determine the end.” ~ Harry Emerson Fosdick ~

To cultivate the Ultimate Healthy Lifestyle you must start from where you are. This may be easier said than done. Many of us have a distorted view of where we are. We let ego get in the way of our self honesty.

Therefore the place to start is by taking self inventory. Who am I? What do I want out of life? Where do I want to be in five years, three years, one year, six months?

These are all questions to ask yourselves and with the courage to answer them with honesty and openness you have a good place to start.

Next, take a look at each area of your life; physical, mental, emotional, social, financial, and spiritual. Determine what you would like each area to look like. Write it down. Always write your observations of self on paper, it is easier to stay focused and consistent.

The next step is planning. How will you get to where you want to go? Make your plans detailed enough to be able to follow them with a step by step method. Plan in time segments starting with weekly and monthly then yearly.

One your plan is in place you will want to break it down even further. Use a legal pad or other notebook and write down your daily plans. Write the things you want to accomplish each day and check them off as you do them.

Prioritize you daily list with most important on top. If you do not complete everything on your list for that day do not get upset with yourself. Simply transfer those not done to the next day. Prioritizing your list each day will insure that the things you don’t get done today will become more important tomorrow and completed in a timely manner.

A word of caution. Do not try to do too much at one time. Do not try to make changes in all areas of your life at the same time. Work in segments and set goals that are obtainable. You can work on more than one area at a time, just make sure you do not become frustrated and overpowered.

It is important that you have the courage to recognize your faults and weaknesses. If you do not acknowledge your weaknesses you cannot strengthen them. It is also important to recognize your strengths. However be careful not to let ego interfere with your self assessment of both your strengths and weaknesses.

Each night review your day. Look for things that you did well and congratulate yourself. Also look for things that could have been done better and formulate in your mind how you could have done them better. This way the next time it comes up you will do it better.

Tomorrow we will look at some of the tools that will make your journey to the Ultimate Healthy Lifestyle a little easier.

TODAY’S TIP: Before you go to bed each night take some time to review you day and write down the things you want to accomplish the next day.

Is this a good start?

Some good tips, but I find that my goals and ambitions change with my state of health or lack thereof. Wouldn’t it be better to lay a foundation of proper nutrition and exercise with the help of those who’ve been highly successful at it and as one’s health improves one can see clearer what they would like life to be like? I have been in such low state of health that I have wished I could just unplug from society and go live off the land in obscurity. It would be just about impossible from that mindset to decide what I want my life to look like in the future. I suggest that health must improve to some degree before goals can be set and decisions made. The more your health changes for the better, the more your goals may change. Personally I’m going to see a ND on Monday. Perhaps she can point me in a more focussed direction. For the past 15 years or so I’ve been just guessing what ailes me. There’s so many causes for so many of the same symptoms that it’s overwhelming.

      Hi Kelly,
Why is your state of health not one of your goals and ambitions? You create your reality. Why have you created a fluctuating state of health. The body is self healing. All you have to do is stop doing what is causing it to be in a state of dis-ease and the body will begin to heal. Perhaps there is work to be done on your self image and self worth. Do you not deserve to be whole, healthy and happy? If not, why not?
