How do you see yourself?
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ~ Buddha
There is a lot of talk about low self esteem and low self worth these days. Most people seem to be inhibited by feelings of low self esteem. Most people have the ability to do and be more than they believe they can.
There are probably many reasons why people think so little of themselves. The main reason being the conditioning of our society. Our society teaches us that we are not meant to be individualistic. We are one of the herd.
Everyday we see how far some will go to get everyone to believe and act as they do. Many believe that their religion is the only true religion. Many believe that their philosophy is the only way to look at life.
By the time we become adults our feelings and ideas have been so smothered that we do not have the slightest idea who we are. Some spend thousands of dollars and most of their lives seeking professional help from psychiatrists and psychologists. Many times in therapy people are told that is is all right to feel sorry for themselves, that they have legitimate excuses to feel the way they do. We have become a nation of victims.
We can all look back in our lives and find something to use as an excuse for not living up to our full potential. To get past them may take much courage and determination. As the saying goes, when I was a child I did childish things but when I became an adult I let go of my childish ways. Many hold on to the disappointments and hurts of childhood all their lives.
It seems that when we try to rise above our limitations there are always those who would pull us down. When we have what we think is a good idea those around us will find all the possible problems and reasons why it is not such a good idea. Many people have allowed themselves to be talked out of acting on excellent ideas by well meaning family and friends.
There are many techniques we can use to build our self esteem. In the ultimate healthy lifestyle we recognize the importance of simply excepting who and where we are at any time in our lives and practicing self love.
You can learn to build your sense of self worth and self esteem by using techniques that are available to all. One of the most basic ways to build self worth is to tell yourself often that you love you. Looking into a mirror and directly into you eyes when you tell yourself this will intensify the process.
Because of the fact that so many people suffer from lack of self esteem I have decided to devote this week to that subject.
TODAY’S TIP: Recognize that you are a divine being and as such you deserve all that life has to offer. Keep reminding yourself of this and go for the gold.
Have you told yourself you love you today?
