How often do you exercise?
“There is a necessity for a regulating discipline of exercise that, whilst evoking the human energies, will not suffer them to be wasted.“ ~ Thomas de Quincey
I am sure you have noticed that for the last couple of months I have relied heavily on articles for my posts that I did not personally write. I will continue to use the works of others in some of my posts because I want you to enjoy the opinions of others on subjects of interest.
I recognize that I am not the only voice for living a healthy lifestyle and that there are others that have information of value. I will attempt to bring you information that will be useful in making your life a more joyous experiencee.
I do however feel the need to get back to writing my own posts at least part of the time. It is for this reason that I will start writing my own posts for awhile on Mondays and Fridays. Later I may do more.
Today I want to talk about exercise. This is a subject many would rather not talk about but is a definite part of the Ultimate Healthy Lifestyle.
I belong to a health club and see all types of people working out. I think some people go to the gym just so they can say, “I went to the gym.” They are so busy talking and socializing that they really don’t get much done.
I swim and see people in the pool bouncing around a little while holding a running conversation and call that exercise. There is even one gentleman who will leave if no one comes for him to talk to. There is a group of regulars that form a circle and pounce and talk.
Talking to others can be a way to make your exercise time more enjoyable, but you still have to put energy into the exercise. Each time you workout you get better results by pushing yourself a little further than the last time.
I tell people when doing reps, do as many as you can and one more. It’s the one more that will make the difference. If you push yourself outside your comfort zone you progress faster and further. If you just stop when you get tired your results will show the difference.
This is not only true of exercising but of all areas of life. Pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and takings risks will open your awareness as to how much more you can do than you thought you could.
TODAY’S TIP: In my experience exercising every day or every other day will increase your endurance and stamina, every third day will maintain the level you have achieved buy less often and you will lose ground.
Did you exercise today?
