Want to build your self confidence?
“What a fool, quoth he, am I, thus to lie in a stinking dungeon, when I may as well walk at liberty! I have a key in my bosom, called Promise, that will, I am persuaded, open any lock in Doubting Castle.” ~John Bunyan

3 Easy Steps to Gain Self Confidence By Kristin Hutchings
It is actually much easier than you think to gain self-confidence. Don’t be fooled into thinking that confidence is something you are either born with or not because that is very far from the truth. Confidence can be acquired by anyone and there are three simple steps you can follow to gain super self-confidence:
Step One – Start small
When you are starting out gaining confidence it is best to start with small things, such as initiating small talk with someone you don’t know very well or introducing yourself to a stranger at a meeting or party. Just worry about having to follow through with a conversation, simply say hello or “Nice weather”. Once you have practiced this several times, you will be able to build on from there and start chatting to people.
Step Two – Write down your qualities
We all have qualities and things we are able to do well, yet we so often overlook or forget this. When you focus too much on what you think are your weaknesses, you tend to ignore your best qualities all the more or undervalue them. It is important that you start to appreciate your talent and uniqueness. One easy way to do this is to write down your qualities. Start with ten things you are good at and then carry on from there. I guarantee you will find you have a lot more to write down than you originally thought. You could also ask someone close to you who knows you well to contribute to your list. The next thing you need to do is to read the list every day to remind yourself how special you are and how gifted you are. Reminding yourself of your best qualities is a wonderful way to gain confidence.
Step Three – Allow your mind to be kind
Gaining self-confidence is much easier when you are thinking the right thoughts. All too often we preoccupy ourselves with worry and thinking of the worst case scenario. It is no wonder that our confidence suffers when we fill our minds with fear and doubt. If we allow our thoughts to be negative then it goes without saying that we will feel negatively, not only about ourselves but the world around us.
To gain self-confidence you need to take control of your thoughts and allow your mind to work in your favor rather than jeopardize you. Start to monitor your thoughts and immediately stop any negative ones and replace them with positive statements. It is an important habit to cultivate and once you have succeeded in controlling the quality of your thoughts, you will start gaining more confidence than you believed possible.
