What do you believe?

“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.” ~ Muhammad Ali

This week will be devoted to belief. What you believe will determine your reality. Many of us have heard that we create our realities. We are told that we can create the reality that we want. Many of us try and fail to do so.

Why do we fail while others are seemingly able to create all they want? The answer is our beliefs. Understand that we have the power to make ourselves believe we believe things we really don’t believe.

Let me say that again. We can believe that we believe something that we really don’t believe. This is what causes much of the stress in our lives. We live as we think we believe in, but something deep inside gnaws at us. We know on a deeper level that we are going against what we truly believe.

The power of one’s beliefs cannot be underestimated.  This is why several people can do exactly the same thing and get different outcomes.

There are many things which would cause us to make believe that we believe something we really don’t believe. Things like not wanting to rock the boat to our conditioning to self preservation.

Over the ages we have been coming to a time of belief freedom. Today we are not as imprisoned in our beliefs as in times past. We can disagree with our peers, government and family. Remember it was not so long ago that you could be burned at the stake if it were known that you did not agree with the church.

Even today we see the remnants of that attitude. We see that those who do not believe as the religious right believes are called children of the devil and otherwise put down.

Many people believe that in the perfect world everyone thinks and acts as they do. They don’t see that that world would be filled with automatons and not human beings.

Fortunately we are beginning to realize that we have power over our thoughts and can cultivate beliefs that aid our growth and make our lives more livable.

We are the Captain of our ship and the master of our fate. We can control the direction of our lives and make them fulfilling and productive.

We can cultivate beliefs that will enhance our lives and we can release beliefs that do not serve us.

Getting rid of those beliefs that do not serve us can be a daunting task, but with commitment and perseverance it can be done.

The fist step is total self honesty. This is probably the hardest part because it is so easy to live in denial and doubt.

TODAY’S TIP: Take a look at your beliefs in an open and honest way. Figure out which ones serve you and which one don’t.

Are you ready for change?
