What is your mission?
“Life is like a taxi. The meter just keeps a-ticking whether you are getting somewhere or just standing still.” ~ Lou Erickso
A couple of days ago my wife and I went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. After dinner we read our fortune cookies. Mine said; “Make your life a mission, not an intermission.” It got me to thinking about how many people are just struggling to get through life.
Life without a mission or purpose is like moving through life in a fog. Most people do not realize how much control they have over their own life. Many try to control others to feel that they do have control.
If a person has control of their own life they understand that they cannot and should not control others. We each have our own lessons and experiences, which we have contracted for when we entered this physical plane. By learning our lessons we are guided to our purpose or mission.
What is your purpose or mission? Are you actively satisfying your mission? Look around you and see how many people seem to just exist and always have a reason, outside themselves, as to why they are not doing more with their lives.
Many of us also spend so much time trying to figure out what our mission is that we miss a lot of living. Our mission can be just helping one single person in life or it can be to change the world. What ever it is we do not have to worry about discovering it. We only have to live who we are and we will be successful in completing our mission
But, one thing is certain, our mission or purpose is to be of service to Humanity and the planet. Our mission is one of giving, not receiving. How are you expressing your service? Who have you helped today?
If you cannot answer those two questions, take a look at your life. Is your life all about you and what you want? If so you are not on your path.
The ancient Egyptians believed that when they got to the gates of Heaven that they were asked two questions. One, did you experience joy in your life? And two, did you bring joy to others? If they could answer both questions yes, they were admitted into Heaven. How would you answer these questions?
The more joy you bring to others the more joy you will experience. Open your heart and your mind and, if you do not, begin to look around you each day and ask; Who can I help today?
TODAY’S TIP: Ask yourself what you enjoy doing, then volunteer your time and donate to a cause related to what you enjoy. There is no greater joy than to give someone else a hand up.
Who will you help tomorrow?
