Playing it safe makes some feel comfortable and they will not risk that comfort. Who knows what they miss in life with this attitude? Here are thoughts on why one would want to move out of their comfort zone.

You probably have areas of life that you do not want to change. Things you do because they are habit and comforting. However this may just block you from trying new things or learning new hobbies. Staying inside your comfort zone seems better.
What is a comfort zone?
Is an mental boundary we create to maintain a sense of security. Crossing the invisible boundaries of the comfort zone causes discomfort. When anything happens, you try to make yourself comfortable again.
Is a comfort zone a problem?
No, not by itself. However if you are afraid to step out of your comfortable limits, you are restricting yourself. You may stay in a situation that may not be beneficial to you because the unknown is scary. In other situations, because of your fears you are avoiding reaching your full potential.
Why should you change it?
Staying in the limits of what you know, you may stay in relationships that may have long passed their prime. Rather than leave a job that is not good, you will stay because you know it pays bills even if make you unhappy. If you want a big change in your life you need to step out of comfort zone. Your future could depend on it.
How to get beyond your comfort zone?
Typically your comfort zone is a reflection of your own expectations and thoughts. This is one reason that it is so easy to stay inside the boundaries of the mind. Change is hard and unknown, making the comfort zone even more appealing
What can you step out of your comfort zone?
Swimming the English Channel may be out of character, but you do not have to make such a drastic change. Learning something new is a great way to step beyond your comfortable limits. Start a new job or take on a temporary job you normally would not are both great ways to acquire new experiences.
Have you stretched?
No, I do not mean like exercises. Well, actually if you do not normally exercise, stretching and exercising are great ways to stretch your limits. If you are a shy person, joining organizations that encourage public speaking is fantastic. Not only are you stepping out of your comfort zone, you are learning a way to build your self confidence. There are many other ways, just try something that you normally would not.

The challenges help you improve yourself, mentally, emotionally, and even physically, and this increases your self confidence level. You gain new life experiences and adds variety to your life. You may find a new hobby or skill that you thoroughly enjoy. You may think of a new idea or concept that improves your life, the lives of your loved ones, or even the world!
