Why should I meditate?

“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of mediation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.” ~ Buddha

Last week we talked about intuition, its importance and how to get in touch with your intuition. This week we will discuss one of the most important tools available to help you get in touch with and strengthen your intuition. That tool is meditation.

Why should one meditate? The answer is that it is probably the single most effective technique to not only enhance intuition but to also get in touch with one’s self. Once you have managed to quiet the ego voice you allow that small God voice to be heard.

It is said that prayer is speaking to God and meditation is listening to God. When we are able to hear that voice of God all things are revealed to us.

Just because they are revealed does not mean that they will be of value because there is one thing that we must do to utilize what is revealed. We must except it and overcome our fear enough to act on it.

Meditation is also an excellent way to control stress. Meditation relaxes the body and calms the mind. One can learn that meditation can be a way of life and can be used in any situation at any time.

It is not always necessary to sit in one place to meditate. You can meditate while walking or running. You can meditate in a room full of people without them knowing what you are doing.

If you do not already meditate it may require some effort to establish a practice but the benefits are well worth the energy required.

Besides being able to banish stress from your life, which will increase life, you can avail yourself of some wonderful insights into self and life.

I hope that you are able to see the benefits of daily meditation. I believe everyone should establish a daily meditation practice. Preferably twice daily but at least once a day.

I prefer meditating first thing in the morning after I have my tea and at night before retiring to bed. You should try to do your meditations in the same place and at the same time each day.

By meditating at the same place you begin to build up an energy field that will help you get into the meditative state and by meditating at the same time the body begins to expect the meditation and will begin to help you.

I do want to mention that it may not be easy if you are just starting to practice. Your body and mind will do everything it can to discourage you and make you stop meditating.

One of the benefits of meditation is that you learn to control the ego and the ego will fight you every step of the way to maintain control. Once you have taken control from your ego you will begin to experience miracles in you life.

TODAY’S TIP: If you are just starting to meditate, try several different techniques and find one that is right for you.
